Career 

He began his career in 1974-1975 as an agronomist at the Dimitrov state farm in the Kamianiec district of Brest region.
1975-1976 - served in the army.
1976-1991 - worked in various positions at state farms in Brest region.
In 1991 - Head of the Department of Agrarian Policy of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus.
1991-1996 - Deputy Chief of a department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus.
1996-1998 - First Deputy Chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee.
1998-1999 - Chairman of the Minsk Regional Committee of Natural Resources.
In 1999 he headed the Republican Committee of the Belarusian Trade Union of Workers of Agriculture.
Since 2002 - Chairman of the Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions.
He took part in the presidential campaign of 2001, but was not registered as a candidate because he failed gather enough voter signatures.
In June 2011 he was elected member of the Governing Body of the International Labour Organisation.
