While studying at the University of Warsaw during the rise of Solidarity (1980-1981) acted as the Press Secretary of the Polish Committee of the Independent Students' Union - ISU (Ogólnopolskiego Komitetu Założycielskiego Niezależnego Zrzeszenia Studentów - NZS), and then member of the National Audit Oversight Committee (Krajowej Komisji Rewizyjnej NZS ).
Was interned when martial law was introduced in Poland.
Until 1989 she worked as an opposition leader, including as part of the "Freedom and peace" movement in Poland (Wolność i Pokój).
While studying in graduate school in the United States at Yale she was an intern at prestigious publications such as "The Washington Times", "The Washington Post" and the weekly "The New Republic".
From 1992 onwards she worked with the Polish Television channel TVP. She held the position of Deputy Manager of the main news program "News" ( "Wiadomości TVP"), was a reporter and managing Editor of "News" as well as an international correspondent and reporter.
She also worked as Director of the TV channel "TVP Polonia" and Director of the TVP Branch in Białystok.
Is a member of the Association of Polish Journalists (Sztowarzyszenie Dziennikarzy Polskich) and is currently Vice President.
Since August 2013 has been a member of the Steering Committee of the European Federation of Journalists.
