He began his career in 1982 by working for 'Salihorskvadbud'. Later he worked as the First Secretary of the Salihorsk District Committee of Komsomol and then as Head of the Propaganda and Campaigning Department of the Salihorsk District Executive Committee. Afterwards he worked as Head of the 'Starobinski' Kolkhoz.

From 1997 onwards he was Deputy Director of Commerce for the closed joint-stock company 'Kalinka', and in 2003 he became CEO and General Director of the open joint-stock company 'Kupalinka'.
