Career

Served in the army. From 1990 to 1994 he was a deputy of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Belarus. From 1995 to 2000 was the State Secretary of the Security Council and the Minister of the Interior. From 2000 to 2004 was the General Prosecutor of Belarus.

From 2004 to 2006 headed the Presidential Administration. In 2006 returned to the post of Secretary of the Security Council. In 2009 became an assistant to the President.
