Career 

Began his career in 1974 as an assistant to the administration of the department at Mahiliou State University named after Arkadz Kuliashou. From 1997 to 2001 was the first vice-rector of the university.

In 2001 became rector of the Mahiliou State University and served in that position for three years. In 2003-2010 was Minister of Education.

In the presidential elections in 2010 headed the election campaign headquarters of Aliaksandr Lukashenka. From 2010 to 2014 he served as the First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration.
