From 1979 to 1987 worked as a correspondent and head of the department of the ‘Mahiliouskaja Prauda’ newspaper and from 1987-1990 was an instructor and consultant for the Mahiliou Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus.

From 1990 to 1994 he was editor of the ‘Mahiliouskija Vedamastsi’ newspaper. In 1994-2000 headed the Belarusian Television and Radio Company and from 2000 to 2002 was Ambassador of Belarus to Romania.

In 2002-2017 he was the chairman of the ONT channel.
