He worked as a history teacher in Nаvapolaсk (1975-1976), correspondent, head of department, deputy editor of the "Chimik" newspaper (Nаvapolaсk, 1976-1988), editor of "Mastackaja litaratura" (1988-1997). A member of editorial boards of "Spadčyna", "Kalossie", "Krynica" magazines. Since 1988 a member of the Belarusian Popular Front, since 1992 was twice elected to the Sojm of BNF, but is currently nonpartisan.
