He worked as an operator on Mazyr Oil Refinery, afterwards spent nine years in the Komsomol. From 1990 to 2002 he worked in various management positions in state economy. Then six years worked as Deputy Director General of state enterprise Belarusnafta.

In 2017 he was dismissed for delaying the modernisation of production facilities and failure to reach a number of economic indicators.
