He started his career trading clothes, sugar, soy and grains. Since 2002 he has been involved in the poultry business. The Servolux group, which he heads, is the largest operator and producer in Belarusian agriculture. It is composed of poultry farms, meat and milk processing plants, feed mills, dairy farms, retail chains and other units. The company is known for such brands as Petrukha, Bratya Grill, and Kuvshinka.

Baskin and a number of managers of Servolux Group were arrested on 14 March 2016 on suspicion of tax evasion in especially large sizes and fully reimbursed the damage charged on him. On 22 March 2016 he was released from KGB prison under house arrest.
